Membership Makes Cents – National Study of Chambers of Commerce: A national study by The Schapiro Group, an Atlanta-based market research firm, reveals a number of important findings about how consumers and business owners perceive the local chamber of commerce and the businesses that are their members.
The Annual Banquet is the Longview Chamber’s premiere business event. It brings together top business and community leaders to celebrate the vibrancy of our trade area. At the banquet the gavel is passed to the new Chairman of the Board and the new Board of Directors is announced. The 2023 keynote speaker is Margaret Spellings, CEO of the non-partisan organization Texas 2036. Ms. Spellings will be presenting on “Real Progress. Real Results.” of the the organization and the impact Texas 2036 is having on shaping policy. The evening is also a time of celebration! Join us as we highlight the success of INDEVCO Plastics, a multinational company located in Longview and AEP/SWEPCO who is committed to working together with their customers and communities to creat the future of energy. Proceeding the banquet is the popular welcome reception which features some new and long-time members with table displays promoting their businesses. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with other Chamber members at our largest and most prestigious event of the year on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Maude Cobb Convention Center.
The Small Business Awards recognizes remarkable small businesses in the Longview trade area. The award winners demonstrates success through sales and profit, potential for long-term success, their commitment to the community along with several others measurements. The award winners set a great example for other small business in the community through their achievements and contributions to the community. The annual awards are held in May.
New member businesses enjoy the opportunity for a Chamber ribbon cutting
during their first year of membership! These require at least two weeks’ notice for scheduling participants and they are typically slated for 11:30 a.m. or 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the business location or the Chamber building. R.E.A.C.H. Team members attend and facilitate the program including photos and social media posting, official letter from the City Mayor, an official membership plaque for display, and the ceremonial ribbon cutting.
State of the City
The State of the City Annual Luncheon is held for community leaders and business professionals as Longview’s Mayor celebrates the city’s accomplishments and its future. The annual luncheon is held in the Fall.
Business Solutions Summit
The Business Solutions Summit brings the business community together in one location on one day for collaboration opportunities. This summit also features power networking sessions, Small Business Awards, the Leadership Longview Graduation.
Our annual HealthyVIEW summit highlights one or more of the components of our HealthyVIEW initiative for our business leaders.
The Chamber Classic is our annual golf tournament that marks a celebration of years of community support, honor, spirit, competition, friendships, and charity. The field of 100 golfers is made up of some of the most influential members of the local business community, as well as dignitaries from the surrounding area.
The tournament is also embraced by local golf enthusiasts. A casual atmosphere, a fun and relaxed awards ceremony, additional entertainment and players of varying abilities has kept many individuals and businesses returning year after year.
Wake Up Longview and Business After Hours
Wake Up Longview is a quarterly networking breakfast and Business After Hours is a monthly late afternoon reception.
Both Wake Up Longview and Business After Hours are highly regarded in Longview and Gregg County for providing opportnuity for businesses to come together and visit with one another in a relaxed environment. It’s a great way to get to know people who will begin to associate you with your brand and the quality you provide.
The 40 Under 40 Network
The 40 Under 40 Network is the premier organization for professionals under the age of 40 who are interested in advancing their careers, filling leadership roles in the community, and building relationships with other business leaders. Members will be sought out for openings on local boards and commissions and are routinely recognized in area publications for their professional and philanthropic efforts. The 40 Under 40 Network will truly become the area’s driving force when it comes to equipping young professionals with the resources for long-term success.
