The Longview Chamber of Commerce supports the Longview ISD Bond Election

Longview, TX – April 18, 2024 – The Board of Directors of the Longview Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce its unanimous support for the upcoming bond election proposed by the Longview Independent School District (LISD). This endorsement underscores the board’s commitment to enhancing educational facilities and opportunities within the community.

The decision came following a thorough presentation by LISD School Board President Michael Tubb and Assistant Superintendent Wayne Guidry, which was held during the recent board meeting at the Chamber. The presentation detailed the objectives and the significant impacts of the proposed bond, focusing on how it will benefit both students and the broader community.

“Michael Tubb, LISD School Board President, and Dr. Guidry provided compelling insights into the needs of our schools and the benefits of the bond,” said Steve Gordon, Chair of the Longview Chamber Board. “After careful consideration and a healthy discussion, it was clear that supporting this bond is in the best interest of our community’s future.”

The LISD bond aims to address critical infrastructure needs, improve student safety, and modernize educational facilities to meet current and future educational demands. The board believes that these improvements are essential for maintaining and enhancing the quality of education that students receive.

The Longview Chamber plans to actively participate in the advocacy for the bond election, ensuring that the community understands the importance of the upcoming vote. Details of these efforts will be shared with the members of the Longview Chamber and through various communication channels to reach the wider community.

“We encourage all stakeholders to get informed and participate in this pivotal decision,” added Steve Gordon. “Our children’s education and their futures depend on the decisions we make today.”
