All businesses, schools, organizations, and families are invited to celebrate the official Charter Date of Longview as a town on Monday, May 17.
We know that creativity abounds in our community, and we are looking forward to hearing about and hopefully seeing what YOU can come up with.
Examples include:
- Decorating windows
- Putting “Happy Birthday Longview: May 17, 1871” on your signs
- Having Office Birthday Celebrations
- Gathering your group together and singing Happy Birthday to Longview and putting it on Social Media
- Assembling your group to spell out a message and using a drone to take footage …. and sending it to the City for posting
- Churches, especially our original / founding churches might celebrate on Sunday, May 16 with “Founders Day Luncheons” or by commemorating former pastors and significant events in their histories.
The City plans to capture the celebration and save information for the Time Capsule to be buried later in the year. The Longview Public Library will archive electronic information.
