Longview, TX, Jan, 7, 2021 CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System broke ground today on Longview’s first Cardiovascular Center of Excellence. This state-of-the-art, 21,500-square-foot, $8.5 million facility on the CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Medical Center – Longview campus will offer premier cardiovascular care for East Texas patients of all ages.

“Excellence in health care is at the heart of any thriving and healthy community, and in 2021, CHRISTUS Good Shepherd will proudly open the doors to Longview’s first Cardiovascular Center of Excellence,” said Todd Hancock, Chief Executive Officer, CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System.

The Cardiovascular Center of Excellence will feature clinical offices and comprehensive cardiac health services, providing capacity for 12 existing specialists and their teams, with opportunity for future expansion. The Center will also provide expanded comprehensive cardiac care at every level, including diagnosis, treatment, prevention, rehabilitation and education.

“This facility will be a wonderful resource for East Texans because it offers one-stop convenience and a readily accessible location,” said C. Fagg Sanford, M.D., Chief of Cardiology, CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic in Northeast Texas. “It combines cardiology, electrophysiology and cardiovascular surgery into a single, medically-integrated clinic. That means we have the high-quality heart care our patients need, offered in a familiar, trusted environment with minimized travel.”

The new facility, conveniently located at CHRISTUS Good Shepherd – Longview in the Medical Plaza parking garage with designated VIP Parking, will also provide expedited, often same-day, diagnosis and treatment planning. The ‘one-stop’ services will include:

  • Minimally Invasive Vein Clinic
  • Nuclear Imaging

  • Minor Procedure Rooms

“This project is an enormous step forward for heart care in East Texas, and it is a great example of the commitment of CHRISTUS Health to the people in the communities we serve,” said Hancock. “We are honored to play a significant role in the advancement of cardiac care that will be transformative for the many patients we serve here in Northeast Texas.”
